Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear. Hebrews 12:28.
Those who accept Christ, and in their first confidence say, I am saved, are in danger of trusting to themselves. They lose sight of their own weakness and their constant need of divine strength. They are unprepared for Satan’s devices…. Our only safety is in constant distrust of self, and dependence on Christ.
Man’s great danger is in being self-deceived, indulging self-sufficiency, and thus separating from God, the source of his strength.
The Lord is coming very soon, and we are entering into scenes of calamity.
We need not say: The perils of the last days are soon to come upon us. Already they have come. We need now the sword of the Lord to cut to the very soul and marrow of fleshly lusts, appetites, and passions.
Minds that have been given up to loose thought need to change…. The thoughts must be centered upon God. Now is the time to put forth earnest effort to overcome the natural tendencies of the carnal heart.
As the storm approaches, a large class who have professed faith in the third angel’s message, but have not been sanctified through obedience to the truth, abandon their position, and join the ranks of the opposition. By uniting with the world and partaking of its spirit, they have come to view matters in nearly the same light; and when the test is brought, they are prepared to choose the easy, popular side. Men of talent and pleasing address, who once rejoiced in the truth, employ their powers to deceive and mislead souls. They become the most bitter enemies of their former brethren.
We are in the shaking time, the time when everything that can be shaken will be shaken. The Lord will not excuse those who know the truth if they do not in word and deed obey His commands.

Dear Friends,
When I was a little girl, I spent most of my time with my Grandfather, Edwin Harmon. My grandmother used to laugh and call me his shadow, because from the moment he came home from work, until I went to bed, I followed him everywhere.
No matter where my Grandfather was, you would find me. He did not mind having me around even though he was very tired from working as a bookbinder all day. As I would watch his every move, he would explain to me what he was doing. As I watched him make change purses from pungent Moroccan leather, he let me smell the rich leather he used for his purses and explained the difference between the smells of quality and cheap leathers. As he I watched him clean the fish he caught, he showed me the still-beating heart and various other parts and without realizing it, I got a lesson in anatomy. As he ate his bedtime snack of the very strong cheese, he would explain how it was made. No matter what he did, he would explain it to me. I listened intently to his every word.
This is the kind of relationship that our Heavenly Father longs to have with us. Our Great Creator’s Great Heart of Love yearns over us, desiring us to spend our time with Him. He wants us to learn from Him by listening to His voice through His Holy Word. He is listening to hear our response through praise and prayer. How He yearns to interact with us throughout the day in even a closer relationship than my grandfather and I had.
He tells us to ask Him anything, to talk with Him about our perplexities, to bring our joys or our sorrows to Him. “Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.” Jer 33:3
Jesus says, “He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him….If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.” John 14:21, 23 Just before His final moments, Jesus prayed, “Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me: for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world.” 17:24
That close walk can begin now. As we meditate upon the Scriptures and pray with our whole heart, we will find a peace like that of which the Apostle Paul speaks, “Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” Phil 4:6, 7
May we have that close and loving relationship with our Dear Father in Heaven. May we read His Holy Word and keep what is written therein. May we walk closely with Him keeping ourselves “in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life” is my prayer. Jude 1:21
