Says the great deceiver: “… The Sabbath is the great question which is to decide the destiny of souls. We must exalt the sabbath of our creating. We have caused it to be accepted by both worldlings and church members; now the church must be led to unite with the world in its support. We must work by signs and wonders to blind their eyes to the truth, and lead them to lay aside reason and the fear of God and follow custom and tradition.
“I will influence popular ministers to turn the attention of their hearers from the commandments of God….
“But our principal concern is to silence this sect of Sabbathkeepers. We must excite popular indignation against them. We will enlist great men and worldly-wise men upon our side, and induce those in authority to carry out our purposes. Then the sabbath which I have set up shall be enforced by laws the most severe and exacting. Those who disregard them shall be driven out from the cities and villages, and made to suffer hunger and privation. When once we have the power, we will show what we can do with those who will not swerve from their allegiance to God. . . . Now that we are bringing the Protestant churches and the world into harmony with this right arm of our strength, we will finally have a law to exterminate all who will not submit to our authority. When death shall be made the penalty of violating our sabbath, then many who are now ranked with commandment keepers will come over to our side.
“But before proceeding to these extreme measures, we must . . . ensnare those who honor the true Sabbath. We can separate many from Christ by worldliness, lust, and pride. They may think themselves safe because they believe the truth, but indulgence of appetite or the lower passions, which will confuse judgment and destroy discrimination, will cause their fall.”

Dear Friends,
Rarely did my mother visit her sister as they did not get along very well. On one such occasion when they had decided to get together, we had a lovely visit. My mother even had my aunt take a picture of her, my cousins, and me. We really looked forward to having a photo so we could remember the good time we were having.
When we finally used up the roll of film and got the pictures developed, we were so disappointed. What could have been a nice picture was ruined by the faces that Connie and Harold had made. Connie had tipped her head back and stuck out her chin and Harold had stuck out his tongue. Of course, that was fairly normal behavior for kids that age, but it spoiled the photo nonetheless.
When our Great Creator made this world, He made it perfect. At the end of each day of creation, He pronounced it to be very good. (Gen 1) From the smallest diatom to the largest beast all creation was in harmony with the universe. Sadly, it did not continue to be such. “Adam and Eve disobeyed the one test of their love and loyalty to their Maker. They ruined the “picture” for themselves and their posterity. Yet, the Great King of the Universe did not leave them in their fallen condition. He gave them the promise of a redeemer to come Who would deliver them from the clutches of the evil one. “And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.” Gen 3:15
Our Heavenly Father has a plan for each of us. He greatly desires us to be a beautiful part of His “Heavenly photo.” Yet, how often we spoil His “picture” just as Adam and Eve spoiled His plans for this world and its future inhabitants or just as my cousins spoiled the photo my aunt took over forty years ago. As we look at the “picture” of our life, we see recorded thoughts, words, and actions that have ruined His great plan. We cry as did Paul, “O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death?” Rom 7:24 In the next verse he gives the answer. “I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord.” With Jesus directing our life, we can have victory! We can be a part in His Heavenly photo! We can fulfill His will and plan for our life!
Our Dear Saviour is knocking at the door of our heart. (Rev 3:20) May we open the door and allow Him to fulfill His will in our life. May we live so close to Him and we become in harmony with His great “picture.” May we pray as did David, “Teach me thy way, O LORD; I will walk in thy truth: unite my heart to fear thy name. I will praise thee, O Lord my God, with all my heart: and I will glorify thy name for evermore.” Ps 86:11,12
