Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee. Isaiah 26:3.

Put away your distrust of our heavenly Father. Instead of talking of your doubts, break away from them in the strength of Jesus, and let light shine into your soul by letting your voice express confidence and trust in God. I know that the Lord is very nigh to give you victory, and I say to you, Be helped, be strengthened, be lifted out of and away from the dark dungeon of unbelief. Doubts will rush into your mind, because Satan is trying to hold you in captivity to his cruel power, but face him in the strength that Jesus is willing to give you, and conquer the inclination to express unbelief in your Saviour.

Do not talk of your inefficiency and your defects. When despair would seem to be sweeping over your soul, look to Jesus, saying, He lives to make intercession for me. Forget the things that are behind, and believe the promise, “I will come to you,” and “abide with you.” …

It is your privilege to trust in the love of Jesus for salvation, in the fullest, surest, noblest manner; to say, He loves me, He receives me; I will trust Him, for He gave His life for me. Nothing so dispels doubt as coming in contact with the character of Christ. He declares, “Him that cometh to Me I will in no wise cast out;” that is, there is no possibility of My casting him out, for I have pledged My word to receive him. Take Christ at His word, and let your lips declare that you have gained the victory…. Peace comes with dependence on divine power. As fast as the soul resolves to act in accordance with the light given, the Holy Spirit gives more light and strength.—Testimonies to Ministers, 516-518.

Dear Friends,

When I was a teenager, I lived about a mile or two from the library. I had a book that was due that day, that I had not quite finished reading. I decided that if I read the book as I walked, I would have it done by the time I got there. It took a few blocks before I could walk in a fairly straight line without watching where I was going.

Soon I became so absorbed in those last few chapters, that I was lost to my surroundings. Suddenly, I heard the squeal of brakes. Startled, I looked up from the book I was reading. Within a foot of me was a big, black car. The driver inside looked scared at first, but then his fright turned to anger. All I could say was ” I’m sorry.” Closing my book, I continued walking. I would wait till I got to the library to finish it.

So, it is in our day to day lives. We can get so occupied with the mundane, that time passes quickly and old age is upon us before we realize it. We look back and wonder where the time has gone. It seems like only yesterday that we were young and full of hopes and dreams for the future.

Our Great Creator, Who loves us more than His Own Life, does not want us to come to the end of our life and look back with disappointment and fear saying, “the harvest is past, the summer is ended, and we are not saved.” Jer 8:20 Because of this, He must often allow troubles and trials to come into our life in order to awaken us and shake us back to reality. Paul advises, “despise not thou the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when thou art rebuked of him: For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth. If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not? But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons. Furthermore we have had fathers of our flesh which corrected us, and we gave them reverence: shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live? For they verily for a few days chastened us after their own pleasure; but he for our profit, that we might be partakers of his holiness. Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby. Wherefore lift up the hands which hang down, and the feeble knees; And make straight paths for your feet, lest that which is lame be turned out of the way; but let it rather be healed. Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord: Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled.” Heb 12:4-15

How deep the ache in God’s Great Heart of Love, when we, instead of running into His Outstretched Arms to receive His loving embrace, turn away and wallow in self-pity. How He yearns for us to come to Him, to spend our time fellowshipping with Him, learning from Him, allowing Him to guide us each step of the way. How He longs to be in every aspect of our lives. He desires for us to praise Him for the multitude of blessings He showers upon us. How He longs for us to accept the help He so freely offers. “Pray without ceasing. In every thing give thanks, for this is the will of God concerning you.” 1 Thess 5:17, 18

May we never get so busy that we forget the One Who gave His life so that we could live, always bringing to our Great Burden-bearer all of our joys, all of our sorrows, all of the happenings in our day-to-day life, for we cannot weary the One Who loves us so.
