Behold, the righteous shall be recompensed in the earth: much more the wicked and the sinner. Proverbs 11:31.
The wicked receive their recompense in the earth. Proverbs 11:31. They “shall be stubble: and the day that cometh shall burn them up, saith the Lord of hosts.” Malachi 4:1. Some are destroyed as in a moment, while others suffer many days. All are punished “according to their deeds.” The sins of the righteous having been transferred to Satan, he is made to suffer not only for his own rebellion, but for all the sins which he has caused God’s people to commit. His punishment is to be far greater than that of those whom he has deceived. After all have perished who fell by his deceptions, he is still to live and suffer on. In the cleansing flames the wicked are at last destroyed, root and branch—Satan the root, his followers the branches.
Satan and all who have joined him in rebellion will be cut off…. Then “the wicked shall not be: yea, thou shalt diligently consider his place, and it shall not be”; “they shall be as though they had not been.” Psalm 37:10; Obadiah 16.
The justice of God is satisfied, and the saints and all the angelic host say with a loud voice, Amen.
While the earth is wrapped in the fire of God’s vengeance, the righteous abide safely in the Holy City. Upon those that had part in the first resurrection, the second death has no power. (Revelation 20:6.) While God is to the wicked a consuming fire, He is to His people both a sun and a shield. (Psalm 84:11.)
The fire that consumes the wicked purifies the earth. Every trace of the curse is swept away. No eternally burning hell will keep before the ransomed the fearful consequences of sin.
One reminder alone remains: our Redeemer will ever bear the marks of His crucifixion….
All that was lost by sin has been restored…. God’s original purpose in the creation of the earth is fulfilled as it is made the eternal abode of the redeemed. “The righteous shall inherit the land, and dwell therein for ever.” Psalm 37:29.

Dear Friends,
The story is told about a man who sold religious books and gave Bible
studies for years. As he knock on people’s doors, he would pray that he
would win many souls for Jesus. Years passed. He did not see even one
soul won to the kingdom. He was very discouraged. Finally, he quit
giving Bible studies. He told himself that there was no use giving them
because no one accepted the Saviour through his efforts. Another year or
two passed. He quit selling books. More time passed…. He stopped
praying. Still more time went by. He stopped going to church and spent
his remaining years as an infidel. When the announcement of his death
was in the paper, one of the people who had studied with him saw it and
attended his funeral. He was shocked to find that this old colporteur
had left the faith. He went to the family and told them that because of
the books he had bought and the studies he had received, hundreds of
people had been won to Jesus. It seems that he had moved away before
completing all the studies, but continued reading the books and read
himself into the Truth. He, in
turn, studied with his family and with others until at that time several
hundred had accepted the Saviour. I do not know if the story is true
or if it is only a sermon illustration, but it teaches a good lesson. We
may not see the results of our labor. We may never reap the harvest of
souls, but we must not stop sowing the seed. Paul speaks of this in 1Cor
3:6-11 “I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase. So
then neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that watereth; but
God that giveth
the increase. Now he that planteth and he that watereth are one: and
every man shall receive his own reward according to his own labour.
For we are labourers together with God: ye are God’s husbandry, ye are
God’s building. According to the grace of God which is given unto me,
as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth
thereon.
But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon. For other
foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.”
“And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap,
if we faint not.” Gal 6:9 May we be used by the Master to bring others
to the foot of the cross. May we persevere in working for Jesus even
though it seems there is no results. May we never stop praying for our
loved ones, although we do not see any change in them. May we be
co-laborers with Christ from now until we hear the words, “Well done,
thou good and faithful servant: thou
hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many
things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.” Matt 25:21
