Men’s hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth. Luke 21:26.
O that God’s people had a sense of the impending destruction of thousands of cities, now almost given to idolatry! . . .
Not long ago a very impressive scene passed before me. I saw an immense ball of fire falling among some beautiful mansions, causing their instant destruction. I heard someone say, “We knew that the judgments of God were coming upon the earth, but we did not know that they would come so soon.” Others said, “You knew? Why then did you not tell us? We did not know.” On every side I heard such words spoken. . . .
Soon grievous troubles will arise among the nations–trouble that will not cease until Jesus comes. As never before we need to press together, serving Him who has prepared His throne in the heavens and whose kingdom ruleth over all. God has not forsaken His people, and our strength lies in not forsaking Him.
The judgments of God are in the land. The wars and rumors of wars, the destruction by fire and flood, say clearly that the time of trouble, which is to increase until the end, is very near at hand. We have no time to lose. The world is stirred with the spirit of war. The prophecies of the eleventh of Daniel have almost reached their final fulfillment. . . .
Last Friday morning, just before I awoke, a very impressive scene was presented before me. I seemed to awake from sleep but was not in my home. From the windows I could behold a terrible conflagration. Great balls of fire were falling upon houses, and from these balls fiery arrows were flying in every direction. It was impossible to check the fires that were kindled, and many places were being destroyed. The terror of the people was indescribable.
Strictly will the cities of the nations be dealt with, and yet they will not be visited in the extreme of God’s indignation, because some souls will yet break away from the delusions of the enemy, and will repent and be converted, while the mass will be treasuring up wrath against the day of wrath.

Dear Friends,
When Eileen was five, she fell at the playground and broke her right arm. We were going to visit my mother in Florida and she had been asking for a photograph; momentarily forgetting about her arm, I took Eileen to get her picture taken. It was only after I got to the photographer’s that I thought about that big white cast. I asked the photographer if there was a way that he could keep the cast from showing. After thinking for a minute or two, he reached into his box of props and pulled out a little, square pillow that nearly matched the color of Eileen’s dress. The picture turned out very well. No one would know that she had a broken arm.
How often we try to hide our sins just as completely as the photographer hid Eileen’s big, white cast. How much like our first parents we are who tried to cover their nakedness with garments of their own making. (Gen 3:7) How many times we try to forget that we are not right with our Maker and go on with our life as if all was well. The wise man tells us, “He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.” Prov 28:13 Praise God! “If thou, LORD, shouldest mark iniquities, O Lord, who shall stand? But there is forgiveness with thee, that thou mayest be feared. I wait for the LORD, my soul doth wait, and in his word do I hope.” Ps 130:3-5 “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” We have a Saviour “in Whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace.” Eph 1:7
Think of it! The Great Creator of the Universe loves us so much that He left all of the glories of His Heavenly Home, dwelt among us as the poorest of men having not where to lay his head, suffered all of the hatred that the evil one and wicked men could heap upon Him even laying down His own life that we might live with Him eternally. How much He yearns for us to allow Him to remove our filthy garments and clothe us with His pure and spotless robe of righteousness. He pleads, “buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see.” Rev 3:18
May we no longer hide our sins behind a “cushion.” May we bring them to the One Who has promised to wash us as white as snow with His own precious blood. Isa 1:18 May we daily walk in newness of life with our heart rejoicing in His mercy is my prayer.
