Christ Before the Ancient of Days

I saw in the night visions, and, behold, one like the Son of man came with the clouds of heaven, and came to the Ancient of days, and they brought him near before him. Daniel 7:13.
After His ascension, our Saviour began His work as our high priest. Says Paul, “Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands, which are the figures of the true; but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us.” Hebrews 9:24….
For eighteen centuries this work of ministration continued in the first apartment of the sanctuary. The blood of Christ, pleaded in behalf of penitent believers, secured their pardon and acceptance with the Father, yet their sins still remained upon the books of record. As in the typical service there was a work of atonement at the close of the year, so before Christ’s work for the redemption of men is completed, there is a work of atonement for the removal of sin from the sanctuary. This is the service which began when the 2300 days ended. At that time … our High Priest entered the most holy, to perform the last division of His solemn work—to cleanse the sanctuary….
The coming of Christ as our high priest to the most holy place, for the cleansing of the sanctuary, brought to view in Daniel 8:14; the coming of the Son of man to the Ancient of days, as presented in Daniel 7:13; and the coming of the Lord to His temple, foretold by Malachi, are descriptions of the same event; and this is also represented by the coming of the bridegroom to the marriage, described by Christ in the parable of the ten virgins, of Matthew 25.
The cleansing of the sanctuary … involves a work of investigation—a work of judgment. This work must be performed prior to the coming of Christ to redeem His people; for when He comes, His reward is with Him to give to every man according to his works.
In the day of final reckoning, position, rank, or wealth will not alter by a hair’s breadth the case of any one. By the all-seeing God, men will be judged by what they are in purity, in nobility, in love for Christ.

Dear Friends,
When we lived in Utah, our house was only two blocks from the Wasatch mountains. We often hiked up a little path in those mountains until we were high above the town. We would climb higher and higher until our house seemed to be the size of a Monopoly house. Often we climbed so high that we could look down on some of the smaller aircraft as they flew through the valley. As we spent time in God’s creation, the pressures of everyday life seemed far removed from us.
On Friday nights, we especially liked to hike up into those mountains after Ron got home from work. As the sun went down and the stars came out, the view became even more beautiful than during the day. Below us was man’s poor attempt at lighting his own world: above us, the sky was filled with brilliant stars. David’s words came to mind, “The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament showeth his handiwork.” Ps 19:1 Nehemiah’s prayer brought our thoughts to our Great Creator, ” Thou, even thou, art LORD alone; thou hast made heaven, the heaven of heavens, with all their host, the earth, and all things that are therein, the seas, and all that is therein, and thou preservest them all; and the host of heaven worshippeth thee.” Neh 9:6
As we sat on the rocks high above the valley, we often wondered how man could ever believe that this earth and everything in it could have come to being by accident. Were they to take the Bible as it reads without any preconceived ideas, they would know and understand that “by the word of the LORD were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth. . . . For he spake, and it was done; he commanded, and it stood fast.” Ps 33:6, 9
Since we are daily bombarded with evolutionary theory, it is well to review the Bible record of Creation, that we may keep it fresh in our mind. “In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness. And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day. And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters. And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so. And God called the firmament Heaven. And the evening and the morning were the second day. And God said, Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear: and it was so. And God called the dry land Earth; and the gathering together of the waters called he Seas: and God saw that it was good. May we “fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters.” Rev 14:7 May we close our ears to man’s false theories and open our minds and hearts to our Great Creator is my prayer.
