And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement. Romans 5:11.
The infinite sufficiency of Christ is demonstrated by His bearing the sins of the whole world. He occupies the double position of offerer and of offering, of priest and of victim.
In the atonement made for him the believer sees such breadth, and length, and height, and depth of efficiency—sees such completeness of salvation, purchased at such infinite cost, that his soul is filled with praise and thanksgiving. He sees as in a glass the glory of the Lord, and is changed into the same image as by the Spirit of the Lord.
The great High Priest has made the only sacrifice that will be of any value. The incense that is offered now by men, the masses that are said for the deliverance of souls from purgatory, are not of the least avail with God. All the altars and sacrifices, the traditions and inventions whereby men hope to earn salvation, are fallacies…. Christ is the only sin-bearer, the only sin-offering….
Priests and rulers have no right to interpose between Christ and the souls for whom He has died, as though invested with the Saviour’s attributes, and able to pardon transgression and sin. They themselves are sinners. They are only human.
Prayer and confession are to be offered only to Him who has entered once for all into the holy place. Christ has declared, “If any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous.” 1 John 2:1. He will save to the uttermost all who come to Him in faith.
The Elder Brother of our race is by the eternal throne. He looks upon every soul who is turning his face toward Him as the Saviour.
The heaviest burden that we bear is the burden of sin…. He will take the load from our weary shoulders. He will give us rest. The burden of care and sorrow also He will bear. He invites us to cast all our care upon Him; for He carries us upon His heart.

Dear Friends,
When I was seven, I got an anole for a pet. This little green lizard-like creature was a perfect pet for me since I’ve got so many allergies. I enjoyed having him scurry all over me and try to hide under my hair. My mother fixed up an aquarium with sand in the bottom, a branch for him to climb on, a little water, and some live plants. We caught bugs for him to eat. He had everything he needed except freedom.
One day not too long after I got him, I decided to play with him. I lifted the screen lid, and reached inside. Immediately he hid under a piece of curved bark that was his home. I lifted it and kept trying to get him. Finally, I saw his tail sticking out from his hiding place. Quickly, I grabbed him, picked him up by his tail, and lifted him out of the aquarium. To my horror, the tail broke off and he scurried away. I dropped that jerking, wriggling tail and screamed. It continued its jerking in such a way that it came right at me. I was terrified! I backed up against the wall and screamed in fright. Even the neighbors came running to see what was the matter.
Once they found out the cause, they all thought it was very funny, and explained that this was just a defense mechanism that lizards have. I was thoroughly humiliated. From that moment, I wanted nothing to do with that little now-tailless lizard. No amount of coaxing would get me to play with him. My mother let it go outside. For the rest of the summer he dwelt in the old hollow apple tree next to the driveway. I know that somehow he managed to survive the frigid Michigan winter because I saw him again the next year.
Our Great Creator has made all things perfectly adapted to its environment. Just as He created the anole to lose its tail if it is captured and that moving, thrashing motion frightens the predator away, so He has created each creature perfectly adapted to live in its own sphere. He watches over all with such tender care. At the end of each creation day, “God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good.” Gen 1:31 David tells us, “By the word of the LORD were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth. He gathereth the waters of the sea together as an heap: he layeth up the depth in storehouses. Let all the earth fear the LORD: let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him. For he spake, and it was done; he commanded, and it stood fast. Ps 33:6-9 “The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament showeth his handiwork. Day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night showeth knowledge. There is no speech nor language, where their voice is not heard. Their line is gone out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world. 19:1-4
Our Loving Creator says, “To whom then will ye liken me, or shall I be equal? saith the Holy One. Lift up your eyes on high, and behold who hath created these things, that bringeth out their host by number: he calleth them all by names by the greatness of his might, for that he is strong in power; not one faileth. Why sayest thou…My way is hid from the LORD, and my judgment is passed over from my God? Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding. He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength. Isa 40:25-29 “I have made the earth, and created man upon it: I, even my hands, have stretched out the heavens, and all their host have I commanded.” 45:12
“But now thus saith the LORD that created thee…and he that formed thee…Fear not: for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name; thou art mine. When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee. For I am the LORD thy God, the Holy One of Israel, thy Saviour.” 43:1-3 What a precious thought! The One Who created the universe and everything therein is the One Who has saved us. The All-powerful God is our Redeemer! “All power in Heaven and in earth is given” unto Him. We can trust Him with our life. We can trust Him to give us the victory over our evil habits. He “is faithful and just to forgive us our sin and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” 1John 1:9
Let us come to Him now with perfect trust in His guiding hand. Let us trust our Great Creator to tenderly care for us, to lead us safely Home. Let us allow His Holy Spirit to change us into His image that God may be glorified is my prayer. (Matt 5:16)
