But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life. John 4:14.
Many are suffering from maladies of the soul far more than from diseases of the body, and they will find no relief until they come to Christ, the wellspring of life…. Christ is the mighty Healer of the sin-sick soul.
If we let go of Jesus we have nothing to hold on to…. Perpetual grace in ever-flowing streams is blessing those who will, if athirst, come unto Him and drink.
He who seeks to quench his thirst at the fountains of this world will drink only to thirst again. Everywhere men are unsatisfied. They long for something to supply the need of the soul. Only One can meet that want. The need of the world, “the desire of all nations,” is Christ. The divine grace which He alone can impart, is as living water, purifying, refreshing, and invigorating the soul….
He who tastes of the love of Christ will continually long for more; but he seeks for nothing else. The riches, honors, and pleasures of the world do not attract him. The constant cry of his heart is, More of Thee. And He who reveals to the soul its necessity is waiting to satisfy its hunger and thirst. Every human resource and dependence will fail. The cisterns will be emptied, the pools become dry; but our Redeemer is an inexhaustible fountain. We may drink, and drink again, and ever find a fresh supply. He in whom Christ dwells has within himself the fountain of blessing—“a well of water springing up into everlasting life.” From this source he may draw strength and grace sufficient for all his needs.
He who drinks of the living water becomes a fountain of life. The receiver becomes a giver. The grace of Christ in the soul is like a spring in the desert, welling up to refresh all, and making those who are ready to perish eager to drink of the water of life.

Dear Friends,
Some years ago when he was at college, the fuse box in Ronnie Jay’s basement apartment caught fire. It took several days before everything was repaired. At first, Ronnie Jay had no electricity. His bedroom was in total darkness and the rest of his apartment was is semi-darkness. Even the simplest things became a challenge and without the electricity flowing through them, his appliances no longer worked. His frozen food spoiled and had to be thrown away. He could not access his school work as the reports that he was working on were on his computer, which, of course, used electricity. Even after repairs were made well enough that he had one extension cord that brought power to his apartment, he had to choose what he plugged into it. Those few days were very inconvenient and seemed like an eternity to him.
Having the comforts in life is something everyone takes for granted, and only when we are without them do we realize what a blessing they were. Much like his apartment during that powerless time, so this world is spiritually dark and cold. It has no light of itself. It offers us no hope, no comfort. In the darkness of this planet where evil reigns, we cannot see our way. We grope about trying to live our life, but failing miserably. We need light and love and comfort.
Praise God! There is Light! There is Hope! There is Power for the asking! Jesus assures us, “I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.” “Yet a little while is the light with you. Walk while ye have the light, lest darkness come upon you: for he that walketh in darkness knoweth not whither he goeth. While ye have light, believe in the light, that ye may be the children of light.” John 8:12; 12:35,36 Life’s greatest blessing is to have the Light of the World dwelling within us. Only then can we see the way clearly. Only then can we find true comfort, true happiness. We must cherish that Light lest it depart from us.
Moreover, we must reflect that Light to others. Our Dear Saviour tells us, “Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” Matt 5:14-16 Each day, we come in contact with those who are in darkness and who needs the light that we can impart. Yet, how often we hold the Blessed Light to ourselves and refuse to let it shine out from us to them, leaving them in their darkness. They are left to grope about ever seeking for that which we could have imparted to them.
Just as our Great Example, Who said, ” I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.” John 9:4; so we must work now while there is still time. Soon our great High Priest will stand up and make that fearful proclamation, “He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still. And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be.” Rev 22:11
May we be ready to hear those solemn words. May we spread His love and light to others that they, too, may be ready to meet the Great Light of the World when He comes. May we together with those with whom we have shared that Light, soon look up and say, “Lo, this is our God; we have waited for him, and he will save us: this is the LORD; we have waited for him, we will be glad and rejoice in his salvation.” Isa 25:9
