Passing on the Light
Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. Matthew 5:16.
Those who have an experimental knowledge of the truth are under obligation to God to communicate the precious light. . . . Some will be convicted and will heed the words spoken to them in love and tenderness. They will acknowledge that the truth is the very thing they need to set them free from the slavery of sin and the bondage of worldly principles. There are opened before them themes of thought, fields for action, that they had never comprehended. In Jesus the Redeemer they discern infinite wisdom, infinite justice, infinite mercy--depths, heights, lengths and breadths of love which passeth knowledge. Beholding the perfection of Christ's character, contemplating His mission, His love, His grace, His truth, they are charmed; the great want of the soul is met, and they will say with the psalmist, "I shall be satisfied, when I awake, with thy likeness" (Psalm 17:15). The divine object of faith and love they see to be Jesus Christ. With them the love of the world, the worshiping of earthly treasures, have come to an end.
Such a soul appropriates the Word of God to himself. He sees that the miracles, the self-denial, the self-sacrifice of Christ, His being lifted up on the cross, were for him. The language of the heart will be, "He died for me. He triumphed in death that I should not perish but believe in Him as my personal Saviour, and have that life which measures with the life of God. In the riches of His grace I am possessed of treasures that are as enduring as eternity."
The world is no longer his study and his god. He hungers for a knowledge of the Word which contains for him treasures that are to be constantly sought and are constantly satisfying--an inexhaustible mine of precious things to be sought for in faith, to be appropriated and communicated to others. He has discovered the fountain of living waters, the wells of salvation, from which he may continually draw, and there will be no diminishing of the supply. That I May Know Him p. 216

Dear Friends,
A few years ago, I was talking with a lady from one of the other offices where I work. She was lamenting that her sons had not been in contact with her for several years. This broke her heart as she loved her sons with all of the normal mother-love. As she looked back upon her life, she tried to think of a reason for their lack of love and care. I suggested that she call them and tell them how she felt. She assured me that she had in the past but it had done no good. After talking with this lady, I felt truly blest that my children call me so often and share with me all that is happening in their lives.
How often we neglect our Heavenly Father just as the sons of that woman neglected her. We get busy with our daily routine and forget to share our lives with Him. We put off Bible study and prayer. We might intend on these privileges that are to vital to our spiritual life, but always something takes our attention. How this breaks the heart of our Loving Creator.
When we think how wonderful it is, that our Dear Father in Heaven longs to be so near to us, we marvel at His tender care and great patience toward us, His wayward children. Words cannot express His great love fore us! Indeed, He emptied all Heaven in His Unspeakable Gift, the Gift of His Dear Son. "Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift," Who gave Himself for our sins, that He might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God our Father." 2 Cor 9:15;Gal 1:4 Truly, He is "The LORD, The LORD God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abundant in goodness and truth, Keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin" Ex 34:6,7
Think of it! He Who upholds "all things by the word of his power," (Heb 1:3) is the One Who eagerly waits for even the most feeble and stammering prayer of one reaching out to Him with but a spark of faith. "For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones." "For I the LORD thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee." Isa 57:15; 41:13
Jesus speaks of His tender care for us, "Are not five sparrows sold for two farthings, and not one of them is forgotten before God? But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not therefore: ye are of more value than many sparrows....Consider the lilies how they grow: they toil not, they spin not; and yet I say unto you, that Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. If then God so clothe the grass, which is to day in the field, and to morrow is cast into the oven; how much more will he clothe you, O ye of little faith? And seek not ye what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink, neither be ye of doubtful mind. For all these things do the nations of the world seek after: and your Father knoweth that ye have need of these things. But rather seek ye the kingdom of God; and all these things shall be added unto you. Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom." Luke 12:7,27-32
The Great King of the Universe loves us so much! He Who made the worlds "so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved." John 3:16 Jesus left all the glories of His Heavenly home to suffer all the hatred that the evil one could heap upon Him. He, Who came down to this dark and sinful world, "thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father." Phil 2:6-11
And beside all this, He dwells within us, to comfort and strengthen us, to bring us into harmony with Him. He hears and answers each prayer. Just as a loving parent must often tell their child "no," so does He. Sometimes we think that He does not answer, because we do not get just what we have asked for, but our Loving King weighs each prayer and gives us what is best for us. He is our Great Shepherd, our Guide, our constant Companion. We can safely trust in Him!
May we never neglect to communicate with our Loving Father in Heaven, coming to Him for guidance, for protection, for everything that we need, praising Him for His goodness and His wonderful blessings that He daily showers upon us. May we be diligent to serve Him with our whole heart, and soul, and being because of His great love for us.
